Class update. Today we are working on the open-ended benchmarks. We will start the new unit (Geometry) tomorrow. Please keep in mind the following things. We have a S.I assignment (#6) which is due by Sunday night. Your Presidential Project is due Monday 12/12. I am putting the documents you will need on the side tab. You already have them, but in case you lost them they are there.
A few key things about the President's Project in order to get that "A" grade.
1. Your poster should be colorful and include pictures.
2. Neatness is very important.
3. In your summary, it's not good enough to just include numbers. Talk about the process you went through to complete your project (I went to Wal-Mart to buy posterboard doesn't count). Even more specifically, make sure to make comparisons between your data and the actual President's. For example, if you find the median age to be 74 (it's not though...) you could talk about a few of the President's who were close to that age, what party they were from, etc.
As of right now, HW for this week is as follows.
M - Study Island assignment due Sunday night
T - Study Island assignment due Sunday night
W - TBD, check back
TH - TBD, check back
F - Study Island assignment due Sunday night, President's project due Monday 12/12!
In honor of hunting season, I showed this video to 8th period (a few of you) about a week ago. This video went viral a little while ago and is pretty funny. Have a great day!!!
Homework tonight is to finish your review packet. Your MSA test is tomorrow. Biggest test of the year so far so please study! I will post a few videos on here shortly which will be beneficial to you. Have a great night!
Investigation 3 exam is tomorrow. Your study island assignment #5 is due by the end of the day Friday. Make sure any unfinished tests are completed by the end of the day tomorrow. I will be running study sessions before school and at lunch time tomorrow.
For 7th and 8th period. This is the problem that we discussed right before the bell rang. In case you've been wondering about the explanation (I know you have!), the following two videos talk about the problem. The first is the beginning of a movie called "21", which does a good job of introducing the problem. The second video explains why the answer is what we talked about in class. Enjoy your weekend!
Make sure to have completed your Study Island assignments for this week! If you lost your sheet, that .doc is available for download on the side panel.
Your other HW for this weekend is to have visited this site and to answer the question to the right. Please make sure to have the letter signed which I sent home with you on Friday. Enjoy the 4 day weekend. Hopefully when we see each other next we will be celebrating a Phillies victory tonight :)
Edit: I have edited the settings so that commenting on posts is much easier now! There is no registration necessary so please feel free to comment on any entry with questions which you may have.
Hello out there. I found a FANTASTIC video on solving really basic equations which breaks it down step by step. I would highly recommend watching this AT LEAST ONCE. At some point in time we will watch this in class as well. While this is an example of basic equations, they will get more difficult for sure. In about 2 weeks, if you aren't understanding this content, please see me and I will help you out until it makes sense.
Welcome to October! HW tonight is to do 2.3 ACE #6. That is the front side of the packet you got at the end of class. New poll question on the side, check it out!
Make sure if you have any missing work that you see me during COLT tomorrow. Don't forget, Study Island assignment is due again this Friday. Have a great night!

This is really cool. Something to check out after you complete your homework!
Homework tonight is to finish the Investigation 2.2 packet. Remember, on the very last question you must extend both those tables all the way to to the point where they'd intersect (it takes a little while).
Expect the next quiz sometime around the middle of next week. Remember, your study island assignment is due TOMORROW (Friday). I've attached the document on the right side with the directions in case you don't have it.
Come to class tomorrow knowing your x and y intercepts pretty well. If you're in 8th period, you need to be at "Jedi Master" status with that content.
Remember, if you are reading this, we need 50 votes for the poll (2/3 of you guys) to earn a bonus question on the quiz! Bookmark this page and check back often!
I think one more day of preparation would be good for the INV1 quiz that was scheduled for tomorrow so we will do an extensive in class review instead and push the test back to Monday. That review .doc is still posted below if you want to look at it tonight and come in with any questions tomorrow. Also, we have a new poll on the right hand side! Have a great day everyone.
Parents and students. First major quiz is tomorrow. Today I will be in the process of uploading spare copies of all the worksheets we use in class, most importantly the review for tomorrow. Please download a new copy if you did not bring yours home. This is a very important grade for EVERYONE. Best of luck!
HW is Section 1.3 ACE 6-8. I will also be checking the HW tomorrow that was assigned yesterday (Finish ACE 4). Please make sure to see me if you need any help. This is where we start to learn stuff which is going to be the basis for the majority of everything else for the rest of the year. Great day today!
Your HW for the weekend is to finish whatever parts of the 1.2 packet we do not get done in class today. Week 3 is done, have a great weekend and answer the new poll questions on the right!!
EDIT:
OK, just found this. Pretty cool/funny video on the distance formula. Watch it, it might change your life.
If you're still struggling with unit analysis, here is a youtube video which shows a couple good examples. In the near future, I'm going to try and start posting my own videos on here so you guys can use them to reference if you get home and work on the homework (as I know you always will) and have some questions.
Homework tonight is to finish the unit analysis packet (probably done in class) and to complete the worksheet with "extra practice" (10 questions with a cartoon at the top).
You have a quiz tomorrow 9/9. First of the year, make sure you study!
Homework tonight is finish question 10 on practice page 1 of your packet. If you have not turned in a syllabus yet you must do so ASAP. Points are lost every day it's late. Check out the new poll question and try it out!!!
Your homework for tonight was to have found this blog/ answer the poll question/ and bring the question to class tomorrow. Thanks for a great first day everyone!
Please check this site often as I will include daily homework as well as information you need to know for class. Feel free to leave a comment with any questions you have and I will respond ASAP.
